Well Blow Me Down

We escaped the storm relatively unscathed. I tell you, this has been a crazy winter to move into an old drafty house. For those of you unfamiliar with the NW Storm that just occurred, let me fill you in. Interstate 5 has been closed for days. Families on the Oregon coast have been without power for almost a week and are being told that it will not be until Sunday that they may be on again. The winds in the valley got up to about 49 miles/hr. In the valley!!! And the coast had triple digit winds.

Naturally, having recently purchased an 80 year old house, we were a bit nervous. The wind howled through cracks in the siding, and the windows shook. But good news...we are still standing, we did not lose power, all of our siding is still on, the ENORMOUS tree in the front yard did not topple or drop any big branches, and most of our tarp remained in place to shield us from the driving rain.

So, adversity #1: a pass. But needless to say we are looking forward to a dry weekend.
